My Thoughts on the Election part 1 of 5

Hello friends & family;

This is something new and different for me, so please bear with me as I share some thoughts that, I believe, the Lord put on my heart, and wants me to share. It comes from my heart with love and genuine concern.
I apologize in advance for the length of this article, so I will put out a little of it each day until it’s all on my Facebook page. I will start by posting Part 1 today and finish up on Saturday with Part 5.

A while back, I was pondering the up-coming Presidential election, when something began to stir inside of me. I sensed very strongly that contrary to my natural bent or tendencies, I had to begin speaking out about the effects this election will have on our Christian way of life in this country. What comes natural to me would be to keep quiet and say nothing. I know I’m treading on thin ice here because I will be mixing Religion and Politics.  “Oh My!  Lord be with me!” J

At this point, let me make one thing perfectly clear; it is not my intension to run down or demean any persons, people groups or beliefs that may be different than my own. I believe that each one of us, in this country, has the right to choose what we believe, and to live a life style consistent with those beliefs. It is from that perspective that I feel compelled to share my thoughts and concerns.

So, from this point on, I will primarily be addressing my thoughts to those friends & family of mine who identify with, and are trying to live according to, the tenants and beliefs of the Christian faith.

It is troubling to me when I hear other Christians say that they cannot bring themselves to vote for Donald Trump.  I understand that he has said some things that has caused each of us to cringe and think, why did he say it that way, or why did he say that at all. However, this election is about much more than a few statements that may have rubbed us wrong or are deemed inappropriate. We are voting not only for a President, but even more importantly we are voting for either the conservative platform or the progressive platform.  Rest assured that the conservative platform is our best hope for protecting our Christian way of life as we know it. Bear with me and I’ll explain why.
