More about Plagues in the Bible Chapter 4

Do you remember the question, in the previous post, that God prompted me to ask all of us, myself included? Here it is again just to refresh our memory;  “Here is a serious, weighty question regarding Covid-19… Did God send this pandemic”?

I don’t know about you, but that question caused me to do some serious pondering, and prayerful consideration! I guess it became very personal to me because right in the midst of writing chapter 2 of this series, I came down with a case of Covid myself. Praise the Lord, it was a light case, and I encountered symptoms that were much like you would expect from a bad cold. Low grade fever, body aches, fatigue and cough.  None the less, it sure got my attention!

I will share my thoughts on the subject, and I would encourage each one of us to spend a little time evaluating the thoughts the Lord may bring to our mind. If this Covid Plague was actually sent by God:

  1. What would that mean to me as an individual?
It would be easy to read the scripture passage I shared at the end of the previous post, and rationalize it to mean everyone collectively, and not me as an individual.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)  14  If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

  2. Would it cause me to change the way I go about my daily life? Would I seek more of God to do His will, or would it be life as usual?

James 1:22-25 (NKJV) 22But be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.  23 For if anyone is a hearer of the Word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;  24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.  25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the word, this one will be blessed in what he does.

  3. Would I spend more time reading the Bible? How will I know what God is saying to me if I’m not spending time in His Word?

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV)  16  All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for    reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

  4. Would I spend more time in prayer? Prayer is nothing more than having a conversation with Almighty God! Think about it… what a privilege we have!

James 5:16 (NIV) 16 … The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

  5. Perhaps what I need is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ so I can participate in all the above?

John 3:16 (NIV) 16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

1 John 1:9 (NIV) 9If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

  6. We don’t have to live in fear regarding Covid or anything else the enemy may try to frighten us with!

1 John 4:7 (MSG) 7My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God.

1 John 4:18 (MSG) 18There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love.

Heavenly Father, thank you for your great love for us! Help each one of us to live, centered in your amazing Love!  Help each one of us to draw closer to you with each passing day. In the precious name of Jesus we ask these things. Amen!
