Life Using the Analogy of Baseball: Inning Ten (Yes…we’re in Extra Innings)
The tenth inning is here (extra innings) and a lot of time has transpired since inning number nine, WHY? Using the baseball analogy, let’s get you up-to-date on what all has transpired since inning nine, back on May 31 of 2022:
The Baseball “IL” or injured list:
In baseball, when a player sustains an injury or is ill, they can be placed on the “IL or Injured List” and this allows the team to replace the injured player on the active roster for a specific period of time. The injured player must stay on the IL for the entire duration of the specific IL they are on. (For example: 7-day, 10-day, 15-day, or 60-day.) This rule prohibits a team from using the IL to move players around indiscriminately on a daily basis. Many times a player may start on a lesser IL such as the 7 or 10 days, hoping they will recover quickly and can rejoin the team. If a player doesn’t heal quickly, they can be moved to the 15 or 60 day IL, but they will be lost to the team for that entire length of time.
Life – “IL” or injured list:
In life we may also lose time if we are injured or ill. We don’t call it an Injured List but a physician may tell us to miss work or to take certain precautions until we are better.
Back on May 17, 2022, I had an EKG with my Primary Care Doctor. The EKG led to extensive tests with Cardiology on June 1st, and having a Pacemaker installed on June 2nd. The Pacemaker procedure went great and the Pacemaker has been working flawlessly. As I like to say… my heart is still ticking, however, now it’s in proper rhythm and beating at 72 beats per minute rather than only 42 beats per minutes. Praise the Lord!
Cardiology placed me on Life’s IL for a period of 30 Days. They told me no heavy lifting, and not to raise my left arm above my head for a month to avoid damaging the Pacemaker wires, and to give everything a chance to heal. Well… that month was over on July 2nd and all restrictions were removed at that time. I was told by Cardiology that I could resume my life as normal.
Why then have I not been posting to this blog until now? The title of this blog is “www.mikehartfortruth.com”, so it is about seeking the truth, right? Well… here’s the truth:
I really could have been typing posts for the blog all along. Certainly after the first week or two there wouldn’t have been any physical reason not to continue. I just seized the opportunity to do outdoor projects for the summer, and as time progressed, it became easier and easier to avoid doing what the Lord instructed me to do regarding the blog.
All through the month of September, Holy Spirit was chastising me about my unwillingness to re-visit the blog. It so happened, that in September I was working on a small retaining wall on the other side of the steps from the one I built in September of 2021. I also found myself reading in the book of Jeremiah just as in 2021.
I’m including the pivotal passage from Jeremiah that the Lord used to grab my attention last year and again this year. Please read the blog post titled “The rest of the story” in the category also called “The rest of the story” to gain a more full understanding of what transpired in 2021 and is happening again this year. Steel posts, concrete block wall and all.
Jeremiah 1:17-18 (MSG) 17 “But you—up on your feet and get dressed for work! Stand up and say your piece. Say exactly what I tell you to say. Don’t pull your punches or I’ll pull you out of the lineup. 18 Stand at attention while I prepare you for your work. I’m making you as impregnable as a castle, immovable as a steel post, solid as a concrete block wall.”
So… here it is the 10th inning. I am off of the IL and back in the game! I will be releasing
new posts every Friday as the Lord provides the words! No more extra innings will be needed.
The Lord will be moving me on to new categories as He deems necessary.
Game over, JESUS WINS!!!
