God so Loved the World that He Gave His Son: The greatest Spiritual battle ever fought – part thirteen
As I sat looking at the list of potential topics from last week’s blog, it was like the Holy Spirit was telling me to start with the children. After all, the children are near and dear to God’s own heart.
Matthew 19:13-15 (NLT2)
13 One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could lay his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him. 14 But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” 15 And he placed his hands on their heads and blessed them before he left.
In another passage, Jesus illustrates for us just how important it is to Him that we protect and keep the children safe!
Matthew 18:1-6 (NLT2)
1 About that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?” 2 Jesus called a little child to him and put the child among them. 3 Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. 4 So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. 5 “And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me.
6 But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea.
So… are we witnessing child abuse today in our country and in the world for that matter?
Oh my… are we ever!
- This first one is not really child abuse; it’s just not the best situation for the child. According to the U.S. Census Bureau in 2022, 19.5 million children, more than one in four, live without a father in the home. That is certainly not the way God intended it to be! When this occurs for selfish reasons, there is no excuse before God!
Genesis 5:1-2 (NLT2)
1 This is the written account of the descendants of Adam. When God created human beings, he made them to be like himself. 2 He created them male and female, and he blessed them and called them “human.”
It is obvious from the scripture above, that if either parent is not in the home, the full depiction of God is not being represented by the parents! (I must take a moment at this point to make sure that there are no misunderstandings regarding this statement. God most certainly understands that there are situations when one or both parents are not able to be present in the home. Because He loves the little children, the Holy Spirit is always available to provide whatever help is required. All you need to do is ask God for help. -See Scripture below-)
Luke 11:11-13 (NLT2)
11 “You fathers—if your children ask for a fish, do you give them a snake instead? 12 Or if they ask for an egg, do you give them a scorpion? Of course not! 13 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him.”
I just realized that I have only covered one bullet point, and there is still sooo much to be said regarding the children. It looks like we’ll be devoting at least a couple more blog posts to this important and often heart breaking issue.
Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world. Red and yellow, black and white,
they are precious in His sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world.
Jesus died for all the children, all the children of the world. Red and yellow, black and white,
they are precious in His sight. Jesus died for all the children of the world.
