God so Loved the World that He Gave His Son: The greatest Spiritual battle ever fought – part thirty seven

Today I’m going to write about a subject that has been on my mind a lot lately. It is a condition that is quite visible in this day and age in which we are living today. Let’s call it “The battle of Good against Evil.” I’m keenly aware of the fact that this battle has existed ever since Adam and Eve partook of the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden. I believe this battle today, however, is far more sinister than ever before. Why would I so confidently make that statement you ask? Because the Bible warns us of just that fact! I have included a passage from the Old Testament and a passage from the New Testament in which they both speak to this Good / Evil dilemma of today:

Isaiah 5:20-21 (NIV)
20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.  21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.

2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NIV)
1But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.

The Scriptures above describe the conditions we are witnessing all around us today. Things that used to be considered wrong or inappropriate are now being presented as not only acceptable, but normal and proper. Evil / improper things are often so well camouflaged today that they seem on the surface to be appropriate. My mind just went back to a time where swearing was not allowed in movies. Then along came the 1939 movie “Gone with the Wind” when Clark Gable spoke the infamous words, “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn!” Prior to that, it was easy to determine a wholesome movie. Now it has become a matter of how much swearing is allowable in a G or PG rated film.

The movie example is trivial when compared to other pure evil things we are bombarded with today. We are being told to comply with or even agree with evil things happening in our world or we could be arrested. These things are often given names to camouflage the fact that they are evil. Here are just a few of many examples:

  • Women’s health care – instead of abortion.
  • Right to choose gender – instead of gender dysphoria.
  • The shot is safe – instead of dangerous side effects.
  • The border is secure – instead of thousands of illegals crossing over our border.
  • Hate speech – instead of freedom of speech.
  • Climate change man-made – instead of natural changes.

Some choices are not just dangerous because they are evil; they are dangerous because many people can’t tell the difference between what is good and what is evil. We are in all-out spiritual warfare! So… what can we do?

1 Timothy 4:1-8 (NIV)
1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.

Romans 12:9 (NIV)
9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

Proverbs 3:7 (NIV)
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.

1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 (NIV)
21 Test everything. Hold on to the good. 22 Avoid every kind of evil.
