God so Loved the World that He Gave His Son: The greatest Spiritual battle ever fought – part fifty one
Hello again my faithful blog readers. As I sat down at my computer and was seeking the Holy Spirit for a direction in which to focus my blog post this week, an interesting thing happened. I was taking a look at last week’s post, just to refresh my memory, and the first thing I saw was the Scripture verse in Psalm 19. That was the first Scripture I referenced in talking about the 2024 Solar Eclipse.
It is so fascinating how the Holy Spirit will use any means available to get my attention. I have heard several people recently talking about Psalm 91, and when I saw Psalm 19 in last week’s post, I immediately transposed the 1 and the 9 and thought Psalm 91. Okay… I think you get the idea that Psalm 91 is for some reason very important to me and others right now. Let’s take a little closer look and see what the Lord desires to convey to us right now from Psalm 91.
Psalm 91:1-16 (NLT2)
1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. 3 For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. 4 He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. 5 Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. 6 Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. 7 Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. 8 Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished. 9 If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, 10 no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. 11 For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. 12 They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. 13 You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! 14 The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. 15 When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. 16 I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”
The reaction in my spirit after reading Psalm 91 was to shout Glory, Hallelujah, and end the passage with an exclamation point. So I believe I will: Glory, Hallelujah!!!!!
We are living in a country and world that seems to be about ready to pop! How much longer can we continue to live our lives with complete disregard to God’s Word and His commands? I believe we need the reassurance and confidence that Psalm 91 gives us right now more than ever before. Let’s take a deep dive into our verse of the week, and see where it takes us.
- In verse one, we are told that the promises belong to those who live in the shelter of the Most High, and we will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
- In verse two, we are reminded that He alone is our refuge and our place of safety.
- In verses three and four, He is our rescuer and shelter.
- In verses five through ten, He promises to shield us from evil and keep our home safe.
- In verses eleven through thirteen, we are told that angels are protecting us.
- In verses fourteen and fifteen, we are told that all we have to do is Love Him, Trust Him and Call on Him, and He is there to help us.
- And finally, in verse sixteen, He promises us a long life and His Salvation!
There is nothing else I would want to place my life and future in, than the precious promises of Psalm 91!
As a way to bring daily peace and rest into our lives, we must make sure that we are living in the shelter of the Most High. Then making it a practice to read Psalm 91 at least once a week or, even better, once a day will keep the promises alive in our mind and spirit! We can certainly use that right now!
Thank You Lord God for the beautiful promises of Psalm 91! Amen. Have a wonderful, blessed week everyone!
