God so Loved the World that He Gave His Son: The greatest Spiritual battle ever fought – part fifty-seven

One evening this week I was surfing through the videos on YouTube and I came across a clip of Tucker Carlson talking with a Christian pastor named Doug Wilson. They discussed a number of things that really caught my attention. Permit me to talk about a couple of them. I will be sharing regarding their conversation using my own words, not exact quotes.

Tucker asked Pastor Wilson to talk about the future of this country based on the direction we are heading right now. Pastor Wilson made the statement that, in his opinion, there is no political way to turn our country around. He said that the next election might make one side happy for 10 minutes, but eventually it’s going to spiral out of control! In my words… “we are rapidly moving toward a third world, banana republic-type country!” Pastor Wilson indicated, once again in his opinion, it’s going to take a Spiritual Reformation of epic proportion to bring lasting change!

So… what does that mean? How does that happen? Pastor Wilson said it will require pastors to begin preaching the true gospel of Jesus Christ. A gospel that brings about true repentance in hearts and minds of people. People who have relegated God to a place called church for an hour, one time per week, or worse, never think of God at all. I know… I know… this just sounds like the rantings of a Christian (me) saying my way is the only way! Does the Holy Bible have anything to say about this subject?

Proverbs 29:22
When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan.

Psalm 72:1-7
Give your love of justice to the king, O God, and righteousness to the king’s son. Help him judge your people in the right way; let the poor always be treated fairly. May the mountains yield prosperity for all, and may the hills be fruitful. Help him to defend the poor, to rescue the children of the needy, and to crush their oppressors. May they fear you as long as the sun shines, as long as the moon remains in the sky. Yes, forever! May the king’s rule be refreshing like spring rain on freshly cut grass, like the showers that water the earth. May all the godly flourish during his reign. May there be abundant prosperity until the moon is no more.

It sure sounds good to me!!! We need to experience some “back to God time” in this country for our own good, whether we all believe it or not!

Tucker and Pastor Wilson went on to talk about the term “Christian Nationalism.” Tucker said that it sounds to him like a good thing to be a Christian and also love our nation. So why is it a term used by some people, or factions, as a derogatory term? Pastor Wilson explained it this way:

When people who don’t believe in God, or at least do not serve Him, hear a Christian say that all authority is given to man by God, they immediately feel threatened! They react by saying… You must be one of those “Christian Nationalists!” The entire controversy is caused by this passage in Romans:

Romans 13:1
Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.

Many well-meaning Christians make the mistake of claiming that God puts evil people in power as well as good people. This may be true in rare cases, such as to punish a country that is doing evil. But that is certainly not the norm! God would not put an Adolf Hitler into power. However, the people, even Christian people allowed, him to gain power by their own un-involvement and/or fear of reprisal.

We are admonished, however, to submit to governing authorities for our own good. If a leader is a tyrant, and we purposely go against them, we only call attention to ourselves.

Pastor Wilson said that people who dislike Christian Nationalists just want to be their own God. I believe he’s right!
