Downloads from the Lord: Let’s Cancel the Cancel Culture! Part Eight
To refresh your memory, here are those seven areas of influence:
1. Academia/Education
2. Family
3. Government
4. Media/News
5. Arts/Entertainment
6. Business/Finance
7. Church/Religion
In the last post we looked at how a biblical view regarding Business/Finance could cause the Powers-that-Be to try to cancel any dialog about said subject. On this post we are going to see how a biblical view regarding Church/Religion could cause the Powers-that-Be to try to cancel any discussion about this very important area.
8. Church/Religion
Matthew 16:18 (NIV)
18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
Colossians 3:16 (MSG)
16 Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God!
Romans 12:4-6 (NIV)
4 Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith.
Romans 16:17-18 (NIV)
17 I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. 18 For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.
Exodus 20:2-6 (NLT2)
2 “I am the LORD your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery. 3 “You must not have any other god but me. 4 “You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. 5 You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me. 6 But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands.
1 Timothy 2:5-6 (NIV)
5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all men–the testimony given in its proper time.
Luke 6:22 (NIV)
22 Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.
Romans 8:35-37 (NLT2)
35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
This wraps-up the series regarding the seven areas of influence. What the Bible says about these seven areas is vitally important in understanding what’s going on in the United States of America and the world around us today!
