Downloads from the Lord: More about Attitude

In my last blog post, I talked a lot about attitude. I believe we can all agree that the attitude we have is taken very seriously by God, and affects not only ourselves, but others as well. I believe the Lord would have us take a little more time to ponder this important subject.

I’m sure that most of us can determine if we have a generally good or poor attitude. If you are like me, our attitude frequently changes due to our mood or specific situations we encounter on a daily basis. Those attitude shifts are pretty easy to identify. But how about the attitude shifts that are not so easily identified or even worse, the ones we feel justified in having? Some negative attitudes seem so natural that we don’t even realize that we have it. Please allow me to illustrate:

This morning I read a little message on Facebook that caught my attention. As we often do, I read it to my wife, Shirley. Shirley’s response was similar to mine. She said, “That is what your post regarding Attitude was all about. You should put this in today’s post.”  So… here it is:

Think about it for a moment. Why should we let what someone said that took so little time out of our life, spoil the rest of our day, week, month, or year? There is a possibility that it could ruin our entire life! We simply can’t allow that to happen! Our attitude must be one that says, “Lord, help me to rise above it and forgive!”

Mark 11:25 (ESV)
25And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

Rather than an attitude of bitterness, we should strive to have an attitude of gratitude! We have much to be grateful for in Christ!

Romans 5:8 (ESV)
8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
