God so Loved the World that He Gave His Son: The greatest Spiritual battle ever fought – part twenty five
Well… here it is Friday again. It’s time to receive from the Holy Spirit exactly what He has reserved for you and for me! It always surprises me when the subject seems to materialize in my mind, where a few seconds earlier I had no idea, what-so-ever, to write about. Here is an example of how that worked today:
I was sitting at the kitchen table this afternoon listening to what Shirley was playing on her iPad. Up popped a short video about Mel Gibson’s movie “The Passion of the Christ,” starring Jim Caviezel as Jesus Christ. Can you believe it, that movie came out in 2004, over 19 years ago? The Holy Spirit spoke to my mind and said, “that’s what I want you to write about this week.” Of course I had to argue with Him in my mind! LOL! I said, once again in my mind, “are You sure that’s what You want me to focus on?” Now, this proves that He has a great sense-of-humor… He said, “What is the title of the blog category you have been releasing posts to for the last 30 weeks?” I looked it up to make sure I had it correct and said, “God so loved the world that He gave His Son!” Then He said, “don’t you think maybe that is a good place to speak about the “The Passion of the Christ?”
If for some reason you have not seen the movie, it is now available all over the internet, and it’s high time you see it or see it again! The man in the video clip said that Mel Gibson’s goal was to depict the crucifixion, and the time leading up to it, in such a way that it leaves no doubt about what He endured for us. You and me!
John 3:16-18 (NIV)
16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
The video went on to talk about an up-coming “Passion of the Christ” sequel. Production on “The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection” was originally scheduled to start filming in the spring of this year (2023). Now it seems the start of production has been moved out to 2024.
During a recent appearance on The Shawn Ryan Show, Jim Caviezel spoke about a sequel to “The Passion of the Christ,” and said that he thinks it’ll be split into multiple films. Caviezel has spoken with Mel Gibson (who directed the original film) and thinks that it might be two films or even three. “I asked him [Gibson] would you be ready to go in January (2024)?” He said, “yeah, maybe.” I said, “how about the end of fall (2023).” He said, “yeah, maybe.” Caviezel then commented, “So who knows… it might be two films, maybe three, but I think it’s two.”
Folks… that brings us to what I believe is the reason the Holy Spirit asked me to write about this subject. The original movie had a tremendous impact world-wide! I’m sure the enemy (satan) would love to delay the next episode called “Resurrection,” or even stop it completely! It was even mentioned that the sequel may depict Jesus winning the victory in hell during the three days His body was in the tomb. Wouldn’t that be something to see!!!
The fact that Jesus won the victory over death, hell, and the grave and was resurrected on the third day is a message that the devil doesn’t want broadcast to the nations of the world!
So… what is our part? We need to pray that any roadblocks the devil may try to use to stop the resurrection sequel, would fail through the power of Almighty God!!! There’s no telling how many people could be saved because of this movie!
Romans 6:8-10 (NIV)
8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.
