God so Loved the World that He Gave His Son: The greatest Spiritual battle ever fought – part twenty seven
Wow! Here it is Thursday evening already, and it’s time to begin writing the blog post for this week. It is astounding to me how quickly the weeks fly by.
Last week I said, “If the Holy Spirit so leads me next week, we’ll have more to discuss regarding the Full Armor of God!” The Holy Spirit hasn’t given me anything else to write about and the subject of the Full Armor of God seems to be what He wants us to explore. Putting on the Armor of God is more than saying, “Today I put on the Belt of Truth,” as I used to do. So… here we go. Let’s look at each individual piece of the armor one at a time. (Ephesians 6:10-18)
- The Belt of Truth: To put on the belt of truth we must ask ourselves, “What is truth so I can put it on?” Jesus says He is truth. So… if we are firmly rooted in Jesus Christ, and are listening to Him, we already have on the Belt of Truth!
John 14:6 (NIV)
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. - The Breastplate of Righteousness: The Bible says that we are made righteous through Jesus! Once again, if we are followers of Jesus, we are made righteous through Him!
2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV)
21 God made him (Jesus) who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. - The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace: As we walk in this world of trouble, turmoil, confusion, and uncertainty, we can only experience peace through Jesus Himself! He is the Prince of Peace!
John 14:27
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. - The Shield of Faith: As followers of Christ, we seek to trust Him and grow in our relationship with Him, even though we have never seen Him. That is called Faith!
Hebrews 11:1-2 (NIV)
1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for.
- The Helmet of Salvation: There is only one way to be saved out of the world of sin, and that is through believing in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and claiming Him as our Savior!
Romans 10:9 (NIV)
9 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. - The Sword of the Spirit: The only offensive weapon mentioned in the Armor of God is the Sword of the Spirit. That if referring to the Bible, the Word of God!!! As we pray, nothing is more powerful than quoting Scripture in our prayers! Jesus is the Word of God who became flesh and dwelt among us! Yes… He is the Sword of the Spirit!
Hebrews 4:12 (NIV)
12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Do you see the link between each item in the Armor of God? Yes… you’re right!!! It’s all about Jesus! If any of us has not yet made Jesus the Lord of our life, now is the perfect time to do so! Just say “Jesus, please forgive me of my sins and be the Lord of my life! Amen!
Thank you Mike for writing this blog! We enjoy learning what God is showing you and us. This is our second time reading this blog and we’re about to read the next. Thanks again Mike God bless you and Shirley and us all!❤️🙏🏻🙂
