God so Loved the World that He Gave His Son: The greatest Spiritual battle ever fought – part thirty

Last week the Holy Spirit prompted me to write about Representative Mike Johnson who was just voted in as the new Speaker of the House. I talked about the fact that as a Christian myself, it was refreshing to hear him talk publicly about the Lord and his Christian faith, while at the same time being highly respected by his colleagues in the House of Representatives. I recall thinking as I watched his acceptance speech, “Wow… we are hearing all these great things about Mike Johnson, and I’m yet to hear any negative things regarding his Christian faith.” It didn’t take long for the Christian haters to go on the attack! Here is an example of the kinds of attacks to which I’m referring to:

The Christian smearing comedian, Bill Maher, compared Mike Johnson to the Maine mass shooting suspect Robert Card. Bill Maher said, and I quote, “I was reading about this horrible shooting in Maine, and we don’t know much about the guy yet, but apparently he heard voices. And I thought, is he that different than Mike Johnson?” WOW… that was terrible and the audience laughed! I want to take a moment to ask the Lord, if it’s not too late for him, to speak to Bill Maher and give him a chance to repent. Otherwise… Bill Maher will spend eternity in hell! That is a fate I would not wish on anybody, even Bill Maher!

Matthew 12:33-37 (NLT2)
33 “A tree is identified by its fruit. If a tree is good, its fruit will be good. If a tree is bad, its fruit will be bad.
34 You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say. 35 A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. 36 And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. 37 The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.”

I won’t dignify anyone else by recounting more of the crude comments made regarding his Christian faith, but I wanted to give you a taste of the garbage that is being spewed out there about Mike Johnson and the Christian faith that we hold near and dear to our hearts! Is this a surprise? No… the Bible warns us about such attacks:

2 Corinthians 4:3-4 (NLT2)
3 If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden only from people who are perishing. 4 Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.

When interviewed by Kayleigh McEnany of Fox News, Mike Johnson himself answered the critics this way and I paraphrase: I’m not surprised by that, it comes with the territory. I just wish they would get to know me. I’m not trying to establish Christianity as the national religion or something. If you truly believe in the Bible’s commands and you seek to follow them, it isn’t possible to be a hateful person. The greatest commandment in the Bible is to love God with everything you have, and you love your neighbor as yourself.  Wow…  I like this guy!

Matthew 5:43-48 (NLT2)
43 “You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. 44 But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! 45 In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. 46 If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. 47 If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that. 48 But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.

We have been hoping and praying for a Godly leader to immerge and here he is. Can we all covenant together to hold this man up in prayer? The devil has put a target on Speaker Johnson’s back. We can pray that all the arrows that are shot at him will be knocked down before they reach him!!!! We pray now that all his adversaries will be shown the error of their ways, and come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ! Amen!
