Chapter 1 – Where have I been, and what have I been doing?

It has almost been a year since I made my last blog post. In fact, my last post was on 25 April, 2025, and today is 2 April, 2026. I would say that is getting pretty close to one year. However, as the title of this category says… I Am Back!!!

Last summer, thanks to a CT-Scan, a small cancerous tumor was discovered on my right Kidney. Long story short, the tumor was removed successfully and no chemo or radiation was required. Last week, I had my one-year checkup and I was given a clean bill of health. Praise the Lord!!!!

So once again, why haven’t I been blogging? Well… what started out as a short vacation from the weekly blog posts turned into a year-long hiatus. My Bad!!!

For the last couple weeks, due to people asking me about my blog and countless reminders from The Holy Spirit, it became obvious that the Lord wants me to get my lazy fingers back on the computer keyboard. So… here we go.

As I am writing this post, I am praying for seven first-cousins in my family with very serious health issues. When I say serious, I mean serious: four of my cousins are dealing with severe cancer issues, another cousin just underwent heart surgery, the sixth one is in the hospital with liver shutdown, and the seventh is dealing with effects of diabetes. I will list their first names so you can pray for them as well. (Bernie, Jim, Steve, Larry W, Joe, Larry C, and Mike K.) If I’m missing anyone, please let me know. This is a lot going on in one family at the same time! It seems like our entire family is being attacked by the enemy!

All evening I have been thinking about an old song that has been a favorite of mine through the years. It has a line that goes something like this: Be filled with The Spirit, singing to yourself, with psalms, and hymns and spiritual songs, praising and making melody, in your heart to the Lord!

What could this song possibly have to do with my seven cousins and what they are dealing with you ask?Well, the Spirit referred to in the song is the Holy Spirit of God. It is taken from the book or Ephesians in the Bible.

Ephesians 5:15–21 (ESV)

15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20 giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

The serious problems my cousins are facing are a result of what we just read in Ephesians five above: Because the days we are living in are evil! They are all receiving the best that medical care can offer. God bless the doctors and nurses that are taking care of our family members!!! However, the best medical care in the world cannot deal with the out and out evil that abounds in our world.

I believe that prayer is what we all can do to come against the evil that exists in this world. The Holy Spirit can help us do the rest of the Ephesians five passage: be filled with the Spirit, 19 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20 giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Yes, the Holy Spirit can and will give us peace in the midst of life’s storms. Ask Him!
Please say a prayer for the names mentioned above. We overcome the evil with good!

I will share more in future posts about the Holy Spirit and how He wants to help us. It’s good to be blogging again!
