Chapter 14 – Who would Jesus support in the 2024 election?

I restate the question posed by the title of this blog post: “Who would Jesus support in the 2024 election?” Of course, I’m referring to the Presidential race between Kamala Harris and Donald J. Trump. Would Jesus actually choose one of the candidates and tell us to vote for that one? Or, would He expect us to be led by the Holy Spirit in making our own choice? Jesus doesn’t want us to be robots with Him pulling the strings. He has given us a free-will, freedom to choose, and He expects us to make an informed, Holy Spirit-led selection! The Bible backs that up in Galatians chapter five:

Galatians 5:16 (NLT)
¹⁶So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.

I realize that it is important to me when I make reference to Christian principles and Bible references. However, that may not be important to you. If you have not yielded your life to Jesus Christ, you have no other option than to make decisions based on your own knowledge. Please allow me to illustrate why that is a scary way to live:

The entire amount of space in the box below represents all the knowledge, wisdom, and understanding that has ever been realized, grasped and comprehended by the human race. The little dot in the far left of the box represents the extent of my knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. The God I serve understands everything inside that box and outside that box! HE CREATED IT!!!! Why would I want to make important decisions based on my little dot, and not consult the Holy Spirit of God? How about you?

This could be the time to seriously consider making Jesus your Lord and Savior! It’s actually quite easy! You don’t have to do anything to prepare. You don’t have to clean yourself up first. Here is what the Word of God says:

Romans 10:9–10 (NLT)
⁹If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. ¹⁰For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

Just say the following and mean it in your heart:

Heavenly Father, I realize that I need You to guide and direct my life! I willingly accept the forgiveness that Your Son Jesus paid the price for on the cross. I repent of my sins, and receive You Jesus as my Lord and Savior! Thank You for Your love. Please help me to live my life as directed by Your Holy Spirit! Amen.

If you prayed that prayer and really meant it, you are now forgiven of your sins, and have a brand-new life through Jesus! Welcome to the family of God!

Now back to our previous conversation.

Since you are now perceiving everything through the eyes of Christ, you can make the decision between Harris and Trump, and trust that it is the wise choice!

⁸And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

As you consider who to vote for in this election, please look past the person and their personality. Consider the platform and policies that each candidate represents and stands for. From a Christian perspective, here are some issues to consider based on their observed actions not merely their words:
