God so Loved the World that He Gave His Son: The greatest Spiritual battle ever fought – part forty nine
Hello again to my faithful blog readers. As I sit at my computer, today is April 5, 2024, and I don’t have the foggiest idea where I’m going with this. I could write about my experience on Jury Duty this week. Or I could write about how sad it was that some good friends of ours had to say goodbye to their beautiful, loving dog Gabe this week. But the thought that keeps coming back to me is the eclipse of the sun that will be happening over the United States of America on April 8, only 3 days away. Is it through this sign in the heavens that God is speaking to us? Just asking that question, you can make your own decisions.
The Bible tells us that the heavens will declare the Glory of God.
Psalm 19:1-6 (NLT2)
1 The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. 2 Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. 3 They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. 4 Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. God has made a home in the heavens for the sun. 5 It bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding. It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race. 6 The sun rises at one end of the heavens and follows its course to the other end. Nothing can hide from its heat.
- The 2017 Solar Eclipse passed over, or passed in the vicinity of, seven communities named Salem.
- Salem was the first name of Jerusalem in the Old Testament ( Jeru-salem). Salem means “peace.”
- The time of the 2017 eclipse in Salem, Oregon was the exact time of sunset in Jerusalem. Both cities grew dark at the same time on August 21, 2017.
- The 2024 Solar Eclipse will pass over, or pass in the vicinity of, seven communities named Nineveh.
- Nineveh in the Old Testament was a wicked city where God sent Jonah to tell them to repent!
- Jonah reluctantly told Nineveh to repent of their evil ways, they repented and were spared.

All of the communities listed above do actually exist and are within viewing range of their respective eclipse to witness a partial if not a total eclipse! Check it out… I did!
So… what does it all mean? Could it actually be God trying to get our attention? Perhaps to say “United States of America, repent of your evil ways and draw closer to Me!”
Luke 21:20-28 (NLT2)
20 “And when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you will know that the time of its destruction has arrived. 21 Then those in Judea must flee to the hills. Those in Jerusalem must get out, and those out in the country should not return to the city. 22 For those will be days of God’s vengeance, and the prophetic words of the Scriptures will be fulfilled.23 How terrible it will be for pregnant women and for nursing mothers in those days. For there will be disaster in the land and great anger against this people. 24 They will be killed by the sword or sent away as captives to all the nations of the world. And Jerusalem will be trampled down by the Gentiles until the period of the Gentiles comes to an end. 25 “And there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. 26 People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken. 27 Then everyone will see the Son of Man coming on a cloud with power and great glory. 28 So when all these things begin to happen, stand and look up, for your salvation is near!”
