God so Loved the World that He Gave His Son: The greatest Spiritual battle ever fought – part fifty-nine

It’s been a while since I talked about my favorite television series of all time. No. it’s not the Waltons, although I liked it a lot. It’s not Gun Smoke or The Beverly Hillbillies. Star Trek with all of its spinoffs, (Original, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and on & on), I love them all. All of these came close but none actually made it to my “NUMBER ONE!”

What is my most loved, number one, favorite TV series of all time? “THE CHOSEN” wins hands down! At this point, I will plagiarize some of my own writing from a previous post. It’s okay to plagiarize if it’s from my own writing, right? LOL

If you are not familiar with The Chosen, it is a free/crowd-funded, on-line streaming series about the ministry years of Jesus Christ. It is the love effort of the originator/co-writer/director, Dallas Jenkins. Some of you may remember Dallas’s father Jerry Jenkins who co-wrote the “Left Behind” book series along with Tim LaHaye, back in the late 1990’s.

The Chosen, when finished, will consist of seven seasons, eight episodes per season. They are currently on season four, episode four. All previous seasons/episodes are available for binge watching or watching at your own convenience. I have personally watched all the existing episodes three or four times each because it is, without a doubt, that impactful!

Here are some of the factors that I believe sets The Chosen apart from other films about the life of Jesus:

  • It is not cheesy. Is that the right word? It’s not trite or cheaply done.
  • It is well thought out and well written! I would say very well written or even anointed of God!
  • It stays consistent with Scripture and fills in the gaps with plausible content and dialog.
  • The writing, acting and directing is impeccable! I have never seen any better.
  • Protestant, Catholic and Messianic Jewish advisers give their okay on every script as acceptable to their belief.
  • There will be a total of 56 episodes when complete, so time is taken to totally develop each character. You begin to feel like you really know them. Scripture comes alive before our very eyes!
  • Jonathan Roumie, who plays the part of Jesus, is powerfully anointed for that difficult, demanding role!
  • Jesus is seen through the eyes of those who know Him best: His Disciples, followers and His mother.
  • The historical scenery, props, costumes and performances are very much in harmony with Biblical times.
  • As you watch The Chosen you are transported to that place and time. It’s like you’re right there!
  • The Chosen is currently being viewed free by countless millions of people around the world.
  • As I mentioned before, it is free to watch; however, you can donate to the project.

As good as it is, it does not take the place of the Holy Bible!!! Scripture is still the only source of truth!

You can view The Chosen by down-loading The Chosen app to your phone or tablet from your app store. You can then view it on that device or cast it to your television. On televisions with app capabilities, such as Roku TV, Apple TV, Fire TV and Fire Stick, The Chosen app can be loaded directly on the TV as you would any other app.

The Chosen is now being translated into 600 languages world-wide! This is a way of passing down Biblical stories and other information to those who have not heard about Jesus!

Psalm 105:1 (NLT)1Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done.

Matthew 24:14 (NLT)14And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.

I mentioned to my wife Shirley after watching Season 4, Episode 4 last night, that “The Chosen” could well be spreading revival fire around the world!  Praise You Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit for anointing Dallas Jenkins for this ministry!!!!!
